Canberra 48 Hour Carnival, AIS Track, Belconnnen, ACT, 15-17 March 2019

Australian centurions Justin Scholz (C61) and David Billett (C50) were both in action in the Australian 48 Hour Championship in Canberra, both reaching the 100 mile centurion mark inside 24 Hours (22:40:08 for Justin and 22:47:45 for David). David continued on to finish with 275.673km, setting 7 new Australian M45 Masters records along the way. Linda Christison, who was in the 24H, stormed thorugh 87.5km in the first 12 Hours and looked set for a centurion finish. Alas, the gods were not with her and her Parkinson’s Disease started to exert itself in the second half, slowing her drastically.

Coburg 24 Hour Carnival, Coburg, Victoria, 13-14 April 2019


Saturday 13th April 2019 saw a record 101 athletes (76 runners and 25 walkers) toeing the line for the 36th annual staging of the iconic Coburg 24 Hour Carnival, now in its 32nd year. As always, the carnival played host to the Australian Centurions. The men’s 24 hour walk saw 6 walkers reach 100 miles, with Kim Janssens C76), Marco Bloemerts (C77), Jurgen de Waart (C78), Martin Vos (C79) and Gertrude Achterberg (C80) all qualifying as new Australian Centurions.

Gerald Manderson
Gerald Manderson (C31) added to his long list of athletic achievements, completing a solo walk from Perth to Melbourne in 80 days in early 2019. His challenge was to complete the walk by the coastal roads like the pioneers - no cell phone, no emergency beacons, no GPS, no support crews, no camels, no way of contacting his family.


Justin in action in the 6 Day Race
Justin Scholz (C61) was one of a 5 walkers in action at the 2019 edition of the E.M.U. 6 Day Race in Balatonfured in Hungary, starting on 9th May.He was the first walker to finish, coming 27th overall in the large field of mainly runners, and setting new Australian records for 500km (4D 23H 4S) and 6 Days (582.127km).
