 1996 Ballarat Ekiden Relay3 views1996 was the first occasion when the Australian Centurions entered the Ballarat Ekiden Relay and Merv Lockyer had this shield made up as a remembrance of our second place finish. The race consisted of 7 laps of 6km around the lake and our team was Merv Lockyer, Tim Erickson (2 laps), Bill Dyer, Clarrie Jack, Ian Jack and Carmela Carrassi. It was a handicap based event, a format that gave a lot of old timers like us a bit more of a chance!

 Steve Jordan Remembrance3 viewsWhen Steve Jordan (C58) died in late 2014, we were lucky enough to get this keep sake for our club records. As Steve was an avid fun runner, it was perhaps fitting that the shield we have was awarded to him in 2012 to recognise his feat in completing his 200th monthly Tan run with the Victorian Road Runners.

But it was Jim's performance which set the standards which have withstood the test of time.
